چکیده

It has been reported in earlier histochemical studies that acrosomes of some insect sperm contain an appreciable amount of basic proteins besides polysaccharides (9, 11). Recently, Bloch (4) and Chevaillier (6) detected such proteins in capsules, which may be homologous to acrosomes, of crustacean sperm. Results are presented in this report to show that acrosomes of Urechis caupo, a marine echiuroid worm, also contain basic proteins which are cytochemically different from basic proteins of sperm and spermatocyte nuclei. In addition, a method for isolation of Urechis acrosomes is described, and preliminary biochemical data on the amino acid composition are given in support of the cytochemical evidence.

Prenucleolar bodies of Urechis oocytes.

The immature oocyte and unfertilized eggs of Urechis caupo, a marine echiuroid worm, contain many nuclear bodies and a main nucleolus. These bodies are similar to prenucleolar bodies of other materials with respect to their origin, structure, cytochemical and biochemical characteristics. They are formed in large numbers during the diffuse diplotene stage, perhaps by an aggregation of nucleolar ...

Ultrastructural demonstration of trypsin-like protease in acrosomes of sea urchin sperm.

Two independent cytochemical techniques were used to demonstrate that a trypsin-like protease is bound to the acrosomal tubule of the sea urchin sperm. The enzyme is associated with binding on the reacted acrosome and presumably functions in the early phases of fertilization.

Biochemical characterization of PE_PGRS61 family protein of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv reveals the binding ability to fibronectin

Objective(s): The periodic binding of protein expressed by Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv with the host cell receptor molecules i.e. fibronectin (Fn) is gaining significance because of its adhesive properties.  The genome sequencing of M. tuberculosis H37Rv revealed that the proline-glutamic (PE) proteins contain polymorphic GC-rich repetitive sequences (PGRS) which have clinical importance i...

P-74: Cytochemical Evaluation of Sperm Chromatin and DNA Integrity in Couples with 3 Unexplained Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion

Background: The aim of this study was to examine the possible relationship between sperm DNA integrity and chromatin packaging evaluated by cytochemical assays, traditional sperm parameters and recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) of unknown origin. Materials and Methods: In this cohort study, 40 couples with a history of RSA and 40 couples with proven fertility were considered as case and cont...
